Kashmir Crisis: Pakistan Warns of Nuclear Consequences

Pakistan Warns of Nuclear Consequences

Recent Tension Between Pakistan and India

The recent tension between Pakistan and India has reached a new level, and the possibility of nuclear war and the Kashmir issue have become central topics. Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), recently gave detailed statements on this matter in interviews with BBC and Al Jazeera.

Threat of Nuclear War and Pakistan’s Warning

In an interview with the BBC, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that a nuclear war between Pakistan and India would be “foolish” and could lead to “mutual destruction” for both nations. He stated, “India is playing with fire,” and warned that India’s arrogant behavior and false narratives could trigger conflict at any moment. However, he clarified that while Pakistan wants peace, it is ready for war if it is forced upon them.

Kashmir: An International Issue and the Way Forward

In his interview with Al Jazeera, Chaudhry described Kashmir as an international dispute and said that India cannot make unilateral decisions on this matter. He stated that Kashmir is a tripartite issue involving Pakistan, India, and China, and that any resolution must be based on UN resolutions and the will of the Kashmiri people. He added that India’s Hindutva politics are oppressing Muslims and other minorities, which is causing resistance, but India is blaming Pakistan for it.

Military Capability and Readiness

Chaudhry spoke about Pakistan’s military capability, highlighting the air clash between Pakistan and India on May 6–7 as a “textbook example” that will be studied in military education for years. He praised the technical advancements of weapons like the JF-17 Thunder, J-10C, and missiles like Fateh-1 and Fateh-2. He also mentioned that many of the military are still engaged in anti-terror operations.

Accusations Against India and International Reactions

Ahmed Sharif accused India of several points. He said that after the Pulwama incident, Indian media conducted one-sided and baseless reporting. He claimed that Pakistan always demanded a neutral investigation and international observation, which India ignored, especially after the Pahalgam incident. He emphasized that Pakistan respects all religious sites, especially sacred places for the Sikh community like Nankana Sahib, Panja Sahib, and Kartarpur.

Conclusion

The recent tension between Pakistan and India and the threat of nuclear war is a serious danger to the stability of South Asia. It is urgent to find a peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue through international involvement and dialogue between both countries. Pakistan wants peace but is prepared to protect its sovereignty and security if necessary.
